"Every child has a unique way of learning. My role is to find it and nurture it."
Every engagement begins with a thorough assessment — not just of academic levels, but of how your child learns, what motivates them, and where they need support. With 27 years in Special Educational Needs, we look beyond the surface to understand the complete picture of each young person.
We design tailored learning plans built around each child's specific needs and strengths. Using evidence-based strategies refined over four decades of teaching, we create structured, multi-sensory approaches that make learning accessible, meaningful, and lasting.
My goal isn't just better outcomes — it's self-belief. Through counselling-informed practice, I help children develop the resilience, strategies, and confidence to navigate their learning journey independently, long after my sessions end.
I'm Debbie Caines, a UK qualified teacher with over 40 years of experience working with children and young people aged 4 to 18. Based in the Arun district of West Sussex, I provide specialist support for students with Additional and Special Educational Needs.
In 1998, I embarked on further training and gained extensive specialism in SEN — a field I've dedicated the past 27 years to. In 2019, I added a Diploma in Counselling to my portfolio, allowing me to support not just the academic, but the emotional and social wellbeing of every child I work with.
My approach is built on a simple belief: every child can learn. We just need to find how. Through individualised assessment, evidence-based strategies, and genuine care, I help young people build the confidence and skills they need to thrive.
I work directly with families who are seeking specialist SEN support for their child. Whether your child has an EHCP, is undergoing assessment, or you simply feel they would benefit from a different approach, I offer one-to-one tuition tailored to their unique needs — building confidence, skills, and a genuine enjoyment of learning.
I also work with Local Educational Authorities through educational specialism firms such as Targeted Provision, providing specialist tuition to children and young people who are vulnerable, have additional needs, or are outside of mainstream provision. This includes young people with EHCPs, looked-after children, and those requiring trauma-informed, one-to-one support.
